Removed the steering wheel from my Ford 4500. Autozone "rents" pullers for free. You buy the tool and return it for a refund. The best pullers have a secondary clamping action that not only pulls but compresses the jaws inward to keep the jaws from slipping off. Spray with penetrating oil use the puller and tap with a small sledge. Can be lots of fun. Good luck.
