How to remove a steering wheel

I am looking for tips/tools/techniques for removeing the 3 spoke steering wheel on my Ford 4000. I haven't seen a tool at the local parts store that is designed to grip the spokes but, haven't done an extensive search for one either. I don't want to damage sheet metal or shaft so I thought I would ask the experts and would appreciate any help.
