As the pictures below will prove, it's possible to put just about any engine you like into an 8N. It's the "not a lot of hassle" part of your question that makes me pause. As for a Ford 600 engine, one thing that I wonder about is the clearance between the engine and gas tank. The 600 engine is an OHV design. You may need some hood modifications ala Funk 6 cyl conversion 8N. In fact, that may be a better solution. I saw a 6 cyl Funk 8N sell on ebay last week for about $3500.
