What material are the shavings? If it's aluminum, our resident compact utility guru says that it is normal, as it comes from the break-in process of the hydraulic pump. There isn't a tractor made that doesn't produce shavings off some kind during the intial break-in procedure. Are these shavings affecting performance? Are they causing any problems? Is your dealer aware of the problem? Is it under warranty? These are all questions you should ask and know the answers to before blowing off about the quality of the tractor. If it's warrantied and the dealer knows, you don't have any problems. For those that think the tractors are built overseas, you're full of it. That transmission is actually built in Kansas - not China. Filings in the transmission will NOT hurt the differential gears, as they are very hard. I've seen some major chunks floating around in various transmissions, and the differential gears will be the last parts affected by foreign material. As long as the oil is being filtered (which it is) before it goes to pressure-lubricated areas and the hydraulic system, it will do no real damage. Any other questions?
