Maybe I should clarify. There were not just a few small shavings. There was a hand full of large and small metal shavings. I also forgot to mention that the rear differential gears are lubricated with this same fluid and this fluid reaches these gears before it is filtered. The dealer told me these gears were hardened steel and would not be damaged. What kind of idiot thinks that running steel shavings through any gears isn't going to cause damage? Last time I checked high quality gears have very little clearance to reduce noise and backlash. Shoving metal shavings that are .020" thick through these gears is going to cause damage. Oh sorry I just made an assumption that they were using high quality gears. If any is interested I have jpeg images of the shavings.
