Thats how I did my conversion on my 3020. Just went to the local repair shop and got a 12 volt starter and one wire alternator. Price was around $200.00. The starter I got will start the 3020 but I don't think its a diesel starter. I had enough opening to put the starter on without changing the filters. It works.
