Been lurking on this site for a while and reading a few threads. I just bought 7 acres in the country and will be moving there shortly. 5 acres of it is a productive hay field. I would like to be able to plant about 4 acres of various, rotating, wildlife foodplots (clovers, corn, beans, winter wheat) and maintain the property myself, harvesting is not required. To do this... I was thinking of a small tractor that would operate a brush hog, two bottom plow, disk, rake. Planting/seeding could be done by hand to start. A front bucket would be nice but not required. Problem is I don't know jack about tractors. I am mechanically handy (autos, small engines)but never worked with hydrolics(yet). I have a line on a 1950 Minneapolis Moline 1950 RTV. Engine was rebuilt, runs great, but needs new tires and does not have a 3 pt hitch. Asking $2400. Would this tractor do what I want/need to do? Is this a OK tractor for a eager tractor novice? What are some good questions to ask the seller? What do I need to look at/watch out for on this tractor? Any thoughts, comments, helpfull hints would be appreciated, Thanks.
