You allready have some good advice. Since you don't know precisely what tractor has been through, do as Steven suggests. My experience on modern day 6 cylinder diesels is about 10,000 hours on average. My experience includes IH, JD, Perkins, Cat and Cummins. The experience is also 10 years old. I had a discussion lately with a CaseIH dealer. He tells me the new 6 cylinder deisels since my time with good maintenance are hitting the 15,000 mark quite easily. Lets face it as farm tractor hp aproaches truck and construction hp, a lot more can go into engineering.
