Dad uses an old Allis Chalmers lawn tractor with a ball on the back to launch boats from the sandy/rocky beach in front of his place in Canada. Don't remember what model, but it's a fairly big one. It's pretty steep, but with the light weight and big rear tires, he hasn't had any problem getting stuck in the sand.
