Actually, that all changed in Acts chapter 10 verses 9-16. There's an interesting story behind the unclean vs. clean parts in the early portion of the Bible. When the Israelites were brought out of Egypt they were entering a land filled with other people and other "cultures". Most of these cultures served various idols, etc. From one source I found out that they sacrificed pigs mostly to these idols. Thus, the Israelites weren't supposed to eat them. They were to be set apart from those who didn't follow God. That's how he wanted it. In Acts this all changed when God told Peter, "Do not call unclean what God has made clean." So the whole food issue isn't applicable anymore. Because now we're set apart by believing in Jesus. Before those who followed and believed in the Lord were set apart by all these laws, etc. Now we are set apart by our relationship and faith in Jesus. Hope this helps clarify things. God bless. --old fashioned farmer
