Greg & David have good advise. The loose connection was the problem. It could have lead to higher amp draw & caused the selenoid, starter, other component, to go bad. However, clean & tighten all connections - the sparking one glazed over, take apart, clean _WELL_, & tighten. Most likely the problem. Had to redo my big tractor with the same sparking _4 times_ before I got a good clean connection. Doesn't matter what it looks like, if it sparked you need to really clean it.... I'd rather pull than short the starter myself, either can be dangerous at least when someone is pulling you will have a witness :). Many people get run over trying to short past the relay/ switch. --->Paul
