I have never had trouble with clamps comeing loose on there own, but am pretty sure I am using the same style you are talking about. I thighten the clamp up about as tight as I can get it with a screw dirver. Sometimes a little beyond that if I think it is nesicary. You have got to be careful to not overtighten the clamp or you will destruct the clamp to a point where it won't hold its tension. Not being tight enough is not good either. When tight enough there should be rubber coming through the rubber slits on the band for the threads of the clamp especially when using a new hose. I was wondering if using a damaged clamp or overtightening is your problem.
