What you posted is true. I can't even remember a time that the factory spec would work. Especially with MF. I did have a special tool for setting clutches for Longs with the hand clutch. The hand clutch models were a little different than the foot clutch models that I seem to remember that you have. I usually tell owners of the foot clutch Long models to adjust the adjusting bolt that is inside the inspection plate on right side of bell housing, all the way down till it makes contact with the release fingers then back out 1 turn. Even this may vary.
