I agree, 8 volts is easy. Use a dropping resistor for lights & coil. I am just fine with the older points system. I would like to know the cold cranking amps at 6vdc & zero degrees F of a 172 cu. in. Ford gasoline engine. It should be close to double using 12 vdc. I guess I just would not want to be using the 6 vdc starter on 12vdc for over 5 seconds- usually plenty of time to start an engine in warmer weather. All starters are not the same either, perhaps the Ford starter has higher resistance windings & 12 vdc is no big deal. Tnx all.
