For yard and loader work, I'd go with the power shift transmission. Quad range is nothing more than a glorified synchro with hydraulic hi-lo. Somewhat better for loader work than the older synchro, but still nothing compares with instant forward/reverse that the power shift provides. I prefer power shift for field tractors as well, recognizing that some engine hp is lost with PS. PS's last longer and are more expensive to rebuild, but with five PS tractors- four have/had 37000 hrs between them, the fifth- 3020 with unknown real hours, but well over 5500 for sure, was the only rebuild. Drain the tranny annually and refill- water (condensation) ruins the clutch plate material- you'll find brass chips in filters and oil. Have the dealer do clutch pack pressure readings to determine relative wear before you buy one, if you have no history on the unit.
