The corn stove route is a pretty good way to go. I have found quite a number used units for sale here in Ontario Canada at reasonable prices. I heat my shop 40x56x14side wall to 65 dgrees while it is -6. I am using about 5pounds per hour ( which is between 35 and 40,000BTU input. I am currently getting my fuel for free, old seed. With the unit that I have , corn, wheat, rye, and wheat/soybean combination have been used. With a corn stove you do not have all the extra handling associated with wood. In a small shop 2 /5gallon pails of grain would provide heat for 24 hours. The bulk of my corn is stored in a 150 bushel gravity box wagon.
