I found this to work on cold days and it should not blow up in your face. I had read that the reason cars and such wont start when it is real cold is because the fuel wont vaporise correctly. I take my wifes hair dryer out and stick it in the intake that way it is blowing warm air to help the fuel and air mix better. I tried this a year or so ago when it was -45 deg. Nothing else I tried worked. The car started right up.
