If he's going to do much plowing, discing, tilling, or heavy brush hogging, he's better off with a Massey 135 that's been taken care of than any of the new compacts. The Massey is a "utility" tractor, and will take the abuse of even a baler if he decides to do any of that in the future. Utility tractors are built much heavier than compacts, and will easily out last a compact when doing farm work. I'd want the Massey to have a diesel engine and power steering too.
