Just thought I'd toss in another thought...the gasolines of today have a very complex "recipe". Very little of a "gallon of fuel" is power producing product anymore. The fuels of today are so full of additives like cleaners and solvent for cleaner injectors and reduced intake valve deposits AND the fuels in the corn belt have the maximum 10% alcohol for cleaner emissions to boot. None of these additives really add power. I used to race dirt track modifieds and ran methanol (wood alcohol)and had to increase jet sizes average 50%. When we ran gasoline we used an average of 5 gallons a show, when we swithced to alcohol, we used 17 gallons...the picture is pretty clear that the additvies in the fuel itself prevents us from greater mileage numbers. Just my opinions and personal experience of course...
