Your comment about having to run your diesel hard, is to keep the cylinders from glazing. according to Cat and Perkins the high base numbers used in modern oils and needed for modern engines are a problem in older engines, used in light service. Perkins recommends an oil with a rating of no higher than the obsolite API CC. Perkins has also set the limit on TBN at 10 and ash at 1.2. This asside, I don't think I would ever trade my diesel MF205 Ind., with A3-152 Perkins for a gas model. It is a pleasure to use, with lots of torque and power. If anyone has oil info. Please Let us Know. Good luck on your first diesel,Mike P.S. the 3 cyl Diesel has A displacement of 2.5 liters and 41 HP at 2250. max torque is 115Ft.-Lbs.at 1250.Engene parts are very reasonably priced and plentiful from Perkins.
