Well, you really can't put it back in timing. The gears just have worn a certain way over the years and when you change how they went together, they make some noise due to sometimes uneven pressure on the tooth. I know that can happen on truck transmissions, but it may not hold true for a cub. Sounds like what you did should fix the problem. Just put oil back in it and put the cover on. It will always have a wine to it. The best thing you could do is hear another cub run and see if it sounds any different... Good luck
