Not sure if it's available in Mi, but.... In Pa we have something called the "Clean and Green" act. It lowers property taxes for anyone who basically promises not to allow development! The only restrictions are that you own 10 acres or more. It's available for agriculture or forestry. I applied as a registered Tree Farmer (NOT TREE HUGGER) and my taxes should get cut by about 50%! It may be Federal, I'm not sure, but I'd check it out! BTW, I believe in clean water, clean air, and the importance of protecting the land. Mostly though, I believe in the RIGHTS of the landowners, and I think most of them take better care of the land out of pure common sense. The Government seems to screw up everything they get their hands on! Just my humble opion.......
