I've seen a picture in WWII era Popular Mechanics magazine, the picture was titled This car runs on Turnips. In England, it was a large boiler affair that bolted onto the rear of the body, was fired by wood, believe the engine burned the methane? coming off the boiling vegetables. If I remember the article correctly, one had to get out about every 3-5 miles and reload the boiler and put in more wood. Haven't seen a picture of a unit for a tractor though. John
