I have been clearing land on my farm in Northern Ontario for a few years now and I agree with the guys who say you should use a dozer. I am surprised that the prices in the States are so high, up here you can get a D-9 for 150 Canadian per hour. My advice would be to get the biggest dozer possible. You will be amazed by how much work a big machine can do in an hour. Don't use your tractor for pulling stumps. I have heard of many of them broken doing this kind of work and also it is unsafe.
