Thanks for the input.
The trailer connects into a rear post. The truck is a Dodge Dakota 1/2 ton four wheel drive with a V8. With the trailer empty the back of the truck is already squatting two or three inches. If I load the trailer to the rear to get a little lighter tongue weight then it tows nicely without any vibration. Yes I know about the dangers of having a tongue weight that is too light. Back end swaying out of control. Not a fun experience.
