Here's my recommendation for someone with little knowledge or experience who wants to get serious about tractor restoration. Go to local tractor pulls and farm shows with antique exhibits. Make friends with the local collectors. You may even run into people you know. Visit local farm implement dealers and salvage yards to get a feel for availability of parts. Ask around about "old timers" who would be willing to sit and "shoot the bull" about their experiences in "the old days". What I am trying to say is, the most satisfying part of restoring antique equipment is connecting with the locals on matters of brands, resources, field days and fellowship. Asking questions on forums like this is a good way to get answers to specific problems and find help beyond the scope of your local network. By now you may have noticed that many posts here are very biased in the area of brand. All I can say is, weigh all information against your own experience. Maybe Grandpa had a certain tractor he owned or felt strongly about. Check it out! Enjoy!
