Chris, my only tractor so far is a John Deere B and think it was a great chioce for me. VERY, VERY easy to work on. The clutch is out in minutes and if you remove one cover you're looking at the pistons, rods, crank, oil pump etc.. It was nice knowing the dealer could get and often times had the parts I coulden't find used. It was supposed to be a restoration for a few years from now but I ended up with some land that desperatly needed mowing. I completed the "resorection" outside in my backyard and it came out nice but my next one will definatly be done in a shop. I know someone that collects JD and was able to talk me thru some stuff but this web site was a great soarce of info. regardless of brand. Parts and service manuals are a must! Good luck.
