I myself think that the first thing when working on any type of equipment is 1. Do I have a place to work on it? Shop?? 2. Do I have the proper tools?? 3. Do I have the knowledge and mechanical ability for this kind of thing?? 4. Do I have the money to stick into tools and tractor parts, plus manuals?? If so, you just pick on whatever the best one is that you can find out in the fence rows, timber or fields that does not run and you can pick up pretty cheap. The first thing I learned in doing this type of thing is: "Don't be color blind." There are a lot of tractors out there that with a little bit of TLC, they will run and last a long time.
