Lots of tractors have plastic fuel tanks, so no problem with _some_ types of plastic. You would want to keep it out of sun as you said, diesel can actually grow an algea in it. There are probably 27 different rules from your state, county, township, & insurance govts & company regulating or prohibiting it. I don't think it is possible to actually be legal on any of this any more with the conflicting rules, like the meat processing plant where Osha stopped them for having an opening in a processor, and the health dept shut them down for _not_ having an opening to sample product from.... But other than that, should work fine. --->Paul
