You are correct, I should have read closer. However, I still think my post may be of benefit to those that think farmers are "welfare cases". You couldn't pay me enough to go through what some of those guys go through. As for the CRP program in general, it has created a big increase in the numbers of pheasants, quail and other wild game in the area I'm from in southeast Nebraska. I guess I don't see the problem with the government paying farmers to allow their fields to become wildlife preserves. It seems like a good tradeoff, as farmer's crops feed a big majority of the deer population. A trip to southeast Nebraska to see how many thousands of deer are out in corn fields, bean fields and alfalfa will show you how come there are so many deere in these areas. You certainly don't see deer grazing in CRP fields and pastures - those are their bedding areas, and they migrate back and forth between there and the fields. It's not a question of if you're going to hit a deer with your car, but when.
