engine substitution

I have a 1950's McCormick W-4 that I would like to get running. The engine is gone. #4 piston is in the oil pan and the block is shot. Besides getting an engine out of another tractor which is going to be a considerable investment, are there any engines (auto-truck)? that would fit the drivetrain with only minor modifications? Or is this going to be a parts tractor?
