Check that it is not diesel fuel leaking internally from the injector pump. Do an oil analysis, or burn the oil on the dipstick to determine fuel content. I would question the hydraulic oil leak idea- isn't that a front mount pump like on larger JDs?, and there would be no direct connection between the engine and hydraulic system. Few years ago my 4450 'gained' oil in a few hours, then leveled off. Fuel came through the injector pump, and when it reached a certain level, was burned off by engine operation, so it never filled the crankcase. Analyzer report: DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE! Rebuilt pump solved the problem, no damage- currently bumps out 190 hp.
