I think you are on the right track.....If you put a ballast resistor before a 6v coil or if you use a 12v coil put the resistor between the coil and the dist. (points and condenser).....are you using a Delco 10SI alternator? IT has a built in regulator,you wont need the one on the tractor....if so you will also need a small warning light(not grounded)or a ohm resistor rated at least 2 watts.....There are conversion related articles under "RESEARCH & INFO."in the article file,on the left side of this page. "Bob Melville" has a excellent article in there....
