I have no problem with charging a small annual membership fee if it gets you covered by the clubs' insurance. That's a bargain in my opinion. However, we spend what is, to us, a lot of money taking our tractors and whatnot to shows and I don't think we need to spend extra money on gate admission. Just rubs me the wrong way. This coming weekend, we'll be at a show in Southwestern Michigan with a 30-60 Rumely Oilpull, an 8-16 Avery, a John Deere M, A John Deere 820, a John Deere 140 garden tractor and a Ford Model T truck. We'll also have a motorhome and a golf cart. It's going to take at least 3 trips with the implement trailer, one trip with the T trailer, and one trip with the camper. And all that again for the trip home. Now, it's only 30 miles, or so, but it will still cost a pretty penny by the time it's all said and done. Not to mention the effort involved. I am thankful that our local clubs recognize that effort and expense and do not charge us extra . . . and do not hassle us about our golf cart.
