I've seen guys do it with an Oliver. There are some pretty good-sized Olivers from the factory that should take the power, and they have an exposed drive shaft and a clutch arrangement similar to that of a car. Also, some of them could rev pretty high so the RPM incompatibility might not be so bad. I think the best way would be to use a car/truck transmission between the engine and the tractor transmission, that way you could get the rpms down going into the transmission to be about the same as a stock engine. You might need a fairly long tractor and a very short transmission, or at least a short tailpiece on the transmission.

I think some of the big modified pullers use an arrangement like that - big engine, automatic transmission like in a dragster, then feed it into the tractor transmission.
