Depends on what you are looking at doing and what your local land looks like. Our zoning has made a world of 5 and 10 acre baby farms. I use a bushhog 2615 L 15' flexwing and a 7600 or 7710 Ford. I charge $85.00 per hr with a 4 hr minimum (includes 1 way travel time). I'm not into the finish mowing business, other folks around here do that and do it well. For me it keeps my equipment running before and between hay cuttings. I'll try to bid a few highway and commerical sites, too. I do it to help spread my machine costs and to keep a couple of hired hands busy when it's too wet to do hay. Liability ins. is important but I've got a blanket policy $1M tacked onto my farmowners. Total farmowners policy costs me $1300 per yr.
