I sm looking for a way to determine whether metal is cast alumimun or pot metal. I think it is cast alumimun, but the scrap metal buyer says it is pot metal. There is a huge difference in the price per pound for the 2 metals. Someone told me to cut into the metal and put silver nitrate in it. If it turns black it is pot metal. Is this true, and where do I get silver nitrate? Thanks
