Hi Mike , I read a book on hydraulics a few years or so ago. The only difference between motor oil and hydraulic oil are the additives , which bennefit the hydraulic system. Once the additives are added to the motor oil , the name changes to fluid. That is the only difference between "motor oil" and "Hydraulic fluid".
