Very good point , but here in Illinois there are a lot more seniors , RV'ers , boaters etc that vote and that's what the politicians look at !! I have to have a CDL to pull my gooseneck cattle trailer and flatbed , but anyone can rent a U-Haul and hook anything behind it with no special license . You see them all the time at the service stations etc. they probably never drove anything bigger than a pickup and it shows . I'll throw in the motorhomes too. Another thing is you never see the DOT stopping them for saftey inspections , some of their tow bars and loads don't look too safe and secure to me to me . They sure like to stop trucks and go over them with a magnifing glass though of course like I said there are a lot more of them than there are us and they have more time to vote and complain . The worst thing here is you get a different answer every time you ask as to what you need to be legal and it seems like every state is different .
