best thing I have used is an I beam 36" long, standing vertical, with a piece of 1/2" plate 12"X12" with a V notch cut in it with a torch, welded to bottom of beam, a cross bar of 4"X4" angle welded perpendecular 12" from bottom, and 2 pieces of 4"X3" welded 1" off center,both sides 30" from bottom for top link. just back into tree or stump and center tree in notch,lift up on lift while backing up, and tree willcome out, and will stay in notch so you can carry it to brush pile, then lower lift and drive foward. I cleared 6 acres of field pines and a plum thicket, worked great for me
