It has some lubricating properties, hence it does tend to work as an upper cylinder lubricant. To get benefit from this use, you must inject it into the upper cylinder. I would imagine that it *could* be beneficial in reducing wear on the upper cylinder walls. How much reduction in wear do you get from using MMO? You tell me. Though I'd prefer to see lab tests that show how effective it would really be. And I want independent lab tests - not something paid for by the companies that profit from sales of the item to be tested. It also has *lots* of solvents in it. If you have gum, varnish, and possibly some sludge buildup, I would imagine it could be beneficial in cleaning your engine. Personally, I'd rather clean my engine with a good engine oil flush - though I prefer to say that I don't allow such nasties to accumulate in my engines. You can't beat a good motor oil - changed at the recommended intervals - to prevent such accumulations. Having said the above, I'll say that if you use a good high-quality detergent lubricating oil, MMO is probably just a waste of your hard-earned $$$. There was a day, when oils weren't what they are today, when it might have been a good investment. You won't see me using it in my new car, though. Truth is, I won't mess up the formulation of the premium synthetic oils I'm currently using, with the addition of some unknown formulations.
