Saying that one plow pulls harder than the other is like comparing apples to oranges. Years ago, for example, AC WD45 tractors typically were sold with a 3-16 moldboard plow in this area. A few (very few) were sold with a 4-blade disc plow. Each turned 48" of soil per pass. So to say a three bottom moldboard pulls harder than a three blade disc plow is right, but the three blade disc plow would turn only 36" of soil! Breaking plows were typically a one-bottom, very wide bottom with extended moldboard to turn the prairie sod. They often had a cover plate bolted to the moldboard to continue turning the furrow, giving it that extra push (control) to flip the sod upside down. After the initial plowing of virgin prairie, the regular moldboard was sufficient.
