Live pto is driven by the engine usually through a clutch of its own or a second clutch built into the tractor�s clutch assembly. It is unaffected by ground speed or direction of the tractor. Ground drive pto is gear driven through the tractor�s transmission, when the tractor stops moving the pto stops,Ford 8n�s, Ferguson 20s&30s used these. Live pto is usually found on tractors built after the mid 50s, IH used it on the Super M, Deere used it on the early number series tractors 50-60-70-80.
