OK, let me change my original question slightly. Forget I said "I agree to do it for half the bales." We haven't agreed to anything, but I have often heard if I do the work on someone elses land I get half and they get half. If I were to fertilize, then I've heard I get 2/3 the owner gets 1/3. Are these not general 'rules of thumb'? I was just wondering if there is also a general rule if the owner doesn't want any. He needs to somehow be paid, but not so much that its not worth my time.
