1944 john deere model A steering trouble

i posted an ad yesterday but failed to put the model of tractor, sorry! the problem in more detail is two fold, the 1st is that when the tractor is still or going straight there is alot of slop with the steering wheel to the left and right(1/8 to 1/4 turn) befor the frt wheel turns. the second problem is at higher speeds on the road when the frt wheels start to wobble unless there is side load on them.
hope this gives a better idea of the problem
