I am not sure of your age and experience with a tractor and mower but be careful. Mowing brush is dangerous and the amount of danger depends allot on your equipment, what your mowing, and your terrain. In any event I would say at a minimum you need to wear safety glasses but allot of people have complete guards behind their seats, again it depends on what your mowing.
Ground Speed will be controlled by the terrain and what your mowing, start off slow and work up. I use either 1st or second gear.
Have the tractor running at an RPM to give you 540 PTO speed.
Fortunately I have a work pit to safely change my mower blades. If you know of anyone with a work pit that would be the safest way to change the blades (never get under a mower with out it safely blocked).
