The whole assembly is the "knife", little v-shaped blades are "sections". The "bar" is the wide, heavy part the knife rides in. Make sure the knife isn't bent, that will make it jam in the clips (or "hold downs"). The bottom side of the sections shear against the "ledger plates" that are mounted on the "rock guards". Make sure the guards line up, and that the ledger plates are all there and tight. You can replace the plates but its a lot easier to replace the entire guard. Under the clips you should also find "wear plates" that help hold the knife in the right position on the bar.
