Tractors from Canada to US Questions

Does anyone out there have experience with dealing with the purchase and movement of an Antique Tractor from Canada to the US???
Is it easier for me to go to Canada buy it and haul it back myself??? Or have the Canadian bring it across on his trailer and pay him for it and load it on to my trailer and hall it home??? Would he run into trouble coming across with a tractor and coming back empty??
