Your tractor was built to make do with what the cheapestlube oil was available at the time. Depression raised farmers are/were noted for being penny wise & pound foolish.
New engines which run hotter, with turbo's or starting in cold weather all benefit from a quality synthetic oil such as Mobil 1 or Amsoil.
How far would a new highway diesel tractor or new Vortec pickup get on non detergent oil?

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
