I also am a teacher - sciences - where we teach practically all metric system. Sad part is that many kids are getting through without a good grounding in ANY measurement system. Even though many of our consumer products are labeled in both systems, the students often cannot do the simplest calculations such as cost per unit! John is right, once you learn to think in a system, it becomes second nature. The english system, with it's many various units that have no relationship to each other is far more difficult to fathom!
